DE LA LUZ DIVINE THEATER
ABOUT
De La Luz Divine Theater is a black box performance venue at 114 Race Street in downtown Holyoke, Massachusetts, part of the De La Luz arts complex that also includes De La Luz Soundstage and a cafe. The facility is a project of LightWorks Collective, a registered nonprofit, and occupies a 40,000-square-foot former paper company complex.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect theater productions, experimental performances, and youth-driven programming in an intimate black box setting. The venue serves as the home of the LightHouse Holyoke theater program and the De La Luz Technical Arts Institute, which provides hands-on training in live event production for youth across Western Massachusetts.
HISTORY
The building at 92 Race Street was originally the Judd Paper Company, purchased in 2013 by Lori Divine and Vitek Kruta who created Gateway City Arts, a hub for arts, food, and culture hosting major touring artists including Chris Stapleton and Los Lobos. After Gateway City Arts closed in 2024 due to pandemic-era losses, LightHouse Holyoke purchased the complex on July 18, 2024 for $4 million through community fundraising and financing. The performance venues reopened on September 13, 2024 as De La Luz Soundstage and De La Luz Divine Theater.
