HOLYOKE

MOUNTAIN PARK

PERMANENTLY CLOSED

ABOUT

Mountain Park is a historic outdoor concert venue and former amusement park located on Mount Tom in Holyoke, Massachusetts, on 60 acres of land purchased by entrepreneur Eric Suher in 2006 for $1.6 million. The site originally operated as a trolley park built by the Holyoke Street Railway Company beginning in 1897, with a Casino theater seating 2,500 people.

WHAT TO EXPECT

When active, the venue operated as an open-air amphitheater hosting touring acts including The Flaming Lips, Counting Crows, My Morning Jacket, Willie Nelson, MGMT, and The Disco Biscuits. The first paid concert in 22 years drew approximately 1,500 attendees for The Decemberists in August 2009.

HISTORY

The park was originally built in 1897 as a trolley park with amusement rides, a zoo, and a summit house where President William McKinley praised the view. The amusement park closed in 1987 and structures were demolished by 2003. Eric Suher's Iron Horse Entertainment Group reopened the site as a concert venue on August 15, 2009, but it has been defunct since summer 2018 with no events scheduled. NOTE: STATUS IS UNVERIFIED — VENUE HAS BEEN DORMANT SINCE 2018.
