CONWAY

Conway is the commercial center of the Mount Washington Valley in Carroll County, serving as the supply hub for surrounding White Mountains and Maine border communities. The town's five villages include Conway proper, North Conway, Center Conway, Redstone, and Kearsarge.

The Majestic Theatre was originally built as a movie house in 1931, and after extensive renovation in 2017-2019, it now houses a 280-seat theater, a music school run by Mountain Top Music Center, and the Majestic Cafe with live jazz and blues on Friday nights.

Conway village operates in the shadow of North Conway's tourist infrastructure, which gives it a more local feel. The Majestic Theatre renovation has brought new cultural energy to the downtown, and the combination of live music, film, and the cafe atmosphere provides a low-key alternative to the outlet shopping and ski-resort scene up the road.

Tip: The Majestic Theatre is in the Bolduc Block on Main Street in Conway village. Friday night jazz and blues at the Majestic Cafe do not require advance tickets.
