OPERA NORTH

Opera North is a professional opera company based in Lebanon, New Hampshire, that performs at the Lebanon Opera House (800 seats) and other Upper Valley venues. It is the only full-time professional opera company serving the tri-state region of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.

Productions span classic opera, musical theater, and contemporary works, performed with noted international artists, designers, and directors. The company focuses on accessibility, bringing professional-caliber opera and musical theater to the Upper Valley.

Opera North was founded in 1981 as the Light Opera of Norwich, an offshoot of the Parish Players community theater in Thetford, Vermont, by David Strohmier. The company became a professional opera organization in 1996 and relocated its base to Lebanon, New Hampshire. Throughout its history, Opera North has presented a range of styles from grand opera to musical theater.
