THE PARK THEATRE
ABOUT
The Park Theatre is a 330-seat performing arts venue at 19 Main Street in Jaffrey, NH. The purpose-built facility features a 27-foot-wide screen with a 17-speaker ULTRA surround sound system for cinema presentations, and a fully equipped stage for live performances. The theater serves the Monadnock Region of southwestern New Hampshire.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming covers live music, film screenings, comedy, game shows, author events, open mics, and theatrical broadcasts from venues like the National Theatre in London. The venue hosts a mix of touring musical acts, tribute bands, stand-up comedians, and community events. Open mic nights are held on the second Wednesday of each month.
HISTORY
The original Park Theatre was built in 1922 (some records cite 1929) by Romolo Vanni and served as a movie and vaudeville house for 54 years before closing in 1976. The original building, with an estimated capacity of 539, was demolished in late 2013. A new Park Theatre was constructed on the same site and opened on August 5, 2021 as a nonprofit performing arts center, built with the help of an EPA Brownfields grant for environmental remediation of the former property.
