THE ROCKINGHAM BALLROOM

The Rockingham Ballroom is a historic dance hall and event center in Newmarket, NH, spanning 8,500 square feet with seating for up to 300. The centerpiece is the largest floating dance floor in New England, a 4,000-square-foot floating wood floor designed for dancing. The venue also hosts concerts, private events, and community gatherings.

Programming includes live music, swing dances, line dancing, country nights, and tribute acts alongside private event rentals for weddings and parties. The floating floor and open ballroom layout make the space particularly suited to dance-oriented events. The venue draws from the broader Seacoast NH region and the University of New Hampshire community in nearby Durham.

The Rockingham Ballroom has been operating as a dance hall since 1934. During the 1940s and 1950s, trains and buses brought dancers from Dover and Portsmouth's Market Square to attend events. The ballroom has served as a community entertainment anchor in Newmarket for nine decades, adapting from big band era dances to modern live music and event programming.
