WHITEFIELD
WEATHERVANE THEATRE
ABOUT
Weathervane Theatre is a 250-seat professional summer theater located in Whitefield, New Hampshire, in the heart of the White Mountains. The tiered auditorium has no obstructed views, with no seat more than 40 feet from the stage. The venue operates under an Actors' Equity contract.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The resident acting company performs in alternating repertory throughout the summer, staging new productions of classic and contemporary Broadway musicals and plays. Family programming includes children's shows through the Patchwork Players and an intensive summer day camp called Camp Windsock. Subscriber packages offer fee-free exchanges and discounted rates.
HISTORY
The Weathervane was founded in 1966 by Gibbs Murray and Tom Haas, continuing a tradition of professional summer theater in Whitefield that began at the Chase Barn Theatre. In October 2011, a fire caused over $1 million in damages to the building, but the theater was rebuilt and continues to operate. The venue is currently in its 61st season.
