ABOUT
Whittemore Center Arena (known colloquially as "The Whitt") is a multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire, located at 128 Main Street. The arena seats 6,501 for hockey and basketball and 7,200 for concerts. It was New Hampshire's largest arena until SNHU Arena opened in Manchester in 2001.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The arena is home to the UNH Wildcats men's and women's ice hockey teams. Concert programming is largely driven by SCOPE (Student Committee on Popular Entertainment), a student-run organization at UNH. Past performers include Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, and Tim McGraw, and the venue has hosted Broadway touring productions.
HISTORY
The facility was built for $30 million and opened in November 1995. It was dedicated to Frederick B. Whittemore and his family on May 5, 1996. The arena has hosted the NCAA Women's Frozen Four in 2002, 2005, 2016, and 2024.
