LACONIA
LAKEPORT OPERA HOUSE
ABOUT
Lakeport Opera House is a restored historic performance venue in the Lakeport village of Laconia, NH, with a current seating capacity of 220. The theater occupies the second floor of the building, which originally seated 350. The space has been updated with contemporary lighting, sound, and event infrastructure while retaining its period architectural character.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming includes live music, tribute acts, comedy, community events, and private functions. The venue serves the broader Lakes Region audience and is available for weddings, corporate events, and special celebrations. The intimate setting and historic character of the space distinguish it from newer purpose-built venues in the area.
HISTORY
The building originally opened as Moore's Opera House on February 3, 1882. It served as a community performance venue and gathering space in Lakeport for decades before the last show in 1960, after which it sat dormant for over 60 years. The opera house reopened in 2021 following a renovation with over $1 million invested in restoring and modernizing the space.
