ABOUT
Red River Theatres is a nonprofit, independent 3-screen arthouse cinema located at 11 South Main Street in the lower level of Capital Commons in downtown Concord, New Hampshire. The 8,500-square-foot facility includes the 156-seat Lincoln Financial Cinema, the 109-seat Stonyfield Farm Culture Cinema, and the 48-seat Jaclyn Simchik Memorial Cinema. It is the only independent cinema of its kind in the state.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming focuses on independent, foreign, and documentary films alongside select mainstream releases. The two larger cinemas feature Dolby digital sound, Christie digital projection, and stadium seating. The venue also hosts community events and special screenings.
HISTORY
Red River Theatres opened on October 19, 2007, after a seven-year community effort and a $1.8 million capital campaign. The theater was named after the 1948 Western film "Red River" starring John Wayne. The facility was designed by Sheerr McCrystal Palson Architects of New London.
